Tiered Workspace (1)
A very clean, modern workspace—love the tiered setup.

I believe that in order to create the inspiring, you must first be inspired (no, this is not yet another CSS gallery for you to rip designs from, sorry). I'm talking about your work environment.
Granted, a good environment and a sweet setup might not turn you into a digital-age Leonardo da Vinci, but it sure could make your project more fun. And even if you're a mere mortal and cannot afford your own Conference Bike, that doesn't mean you can't drool at somebody else's.
With that said, keep an eye out here at WorthWorkingFor.com, featuring workspaces that making working worth the work (I would trademark that, but I'm saving up for a conference bike).
Sincerely,
The Management
P.S. If you have your own sweet setup or know about one, feel free to give me a shout at elliot (at) elliotswan.com.

Today’s setup comes from web developer Tim Novinger, who was kind enough to send me some info on his setup.
First, the specs;
20″ Apple Cinema Display
15″ Late 2008 MacBook Pro sitting on an Mstand from Rain Design
15″ PowerBook G4 FW800 Sitting on an External Dual Layer DVD drive
Apple Aluminum Keyboard
Dell Bluetooth Mouse2 External USB 320GB drives
1 External FW400 80GB drive

And the kicker:
Both systems are operated with the same keyboard and mouse setup, using Synergy KM to tie it all together. Proximity.app is also used in conjunction with my iPhone 3G to detect when I’m nearby via Bluetooth and is in charge of running AppleScripts to play/pause iTunes, lock/unlock screensaver and set all chat clients away/back.

A great, simple setup with an amazing view of the city. And what’s more inspiring than that?

One of the great things about workspace setups is they’re never really complete–it’s a continual process of adding and subtracting, rearranging and organizing as needs and ideas change. Every once in a while, this blog will take a look at the evolution of previously posted setups, such as this one here.
Originally featured several months ago, this setup has become much simpler, moving to a single 30″ display and removing some shelving that previously blocked the window.

The details:
Apple 24″ LED Cinema, Early 2009 Mac mini 2GHz Core Duo 2, 4GB DDR3, and 320GB SATA II. Two Western Digital 2TB External hard Drives. Wired Aluminum Keyboard and Wireless Mighty Mouse. Two Western Digital 2TB External hard Drives. Logitech THX 5.1 Surround Sound Z-5500
That’s right–this whole setup is powered on a Mac Mini.

This before & after was submitted by o2dazone who said he was inspired by many of the workspaces on here and decided to do a cleanup. And if I say so myself, it looks like quite a nice job.

A great setup with lots of great notes. And for the interested, the desk is from IKEA.
